mutual funds and plasma TVs

I wonder if i wonder anymore at all
the everyday trap of learning new things
has gripped me in a vice
thats what the 20s are about they say
storing up that fund of knowledge
of politics and economics and Worldview
and staring at beggars with missing limbs
and not lifting a (thankfully whole) finger
and holding your nose when the smell of piss
knocks you sideways in the local subway

i wonder if its right, after all,
to lose yourself in the verse
of another age, another place
and say, 'oh i know nothing about that'
when asked if Saddam Hussain should be killed

it probably is, because idealism
only gets you so far
you feel bitter about the big bad world
and go back to planning your mutual funds
and wondering if you can afford to buy
that plasma TV for your mom
at least with poetry, you feel you have the key
to that magnificent hall of Truth
and Beauty
and everything beyond

well it doesn't change much in the thirties either man.....but you could have raked in enough green to start paying small donations to charitable organizations or as I call it 'buying conscience'

Oh BTW....how you been?

ya arjun... thought twice about revealing 'this side of me', as you put it, but somehow i am past caring.
which arjun is this btw? either family or school, i'm guessing, from the fact that you know my nickname, which i have been trying to live down for several years.
its not working, obviously!

reflextion,
i'm doing good man, and how about you? yep - donating money is, as you say, buying conscience.. maybe one answer is to donate time as well, maybe an hour a week to help out at one of the NGOs... i've been wanting to do this, but this 'wanting to do this' seems to be a perennial state.

The Case Of The Jaded Journo

He holds a candle to the Nuclear Family! He stares down Evil with the unwavering gaze of a Stockwatcher! He gambles his entire salary on Fate itself! Half a life for the price of one!

Okay, I'll stop now :P

Just so you know: you've been tagged!

eyefry,
well, maybe i take myself a bit too seriously.
but well.
"the unwavering gaze of a Stockwatcher".. i now know how true that is - nice bit of a imagery!
