Not much has changed since my long sabbatical from blogville, apart from a couple of enquiries as to where I disappeared (varun, vinayak, thanks for that) and blog-spammers, whom I have eluded for almost a year, seem to have finally hunted me down. I particularly enjoyed:

I call that getting straight to the point. No preamble, no "Hey, nice site! You should check this out as well" or "For instant pain relief, check out..."
He/She/It just says (rather ominously) that he will come back really soon, like as though that would fool me into thinking its a real person, and, even if I did, I would actually give a shit. And then launched into a monologue of hyper text.
But most interesting is the "See you tomorrow!" bit.
What? Why? Does that mean this mysterious spammer is claiming to come back tomorrow? Or is he so confident in "effexor xr" that he thinks I will click on the link, and end up buying the product? If anyone stumbles across any clues, do let me know.

I also noticed that Google has bought over blogspot, following its buyout of orkut. Now I'm in danger of seeing google in my sleep. Check my mail, network online, express my thoughts... who knows maybe google will buy www.blastbilliards.com as well, the only other online activity that i pursue with any regularity.
But I wonder... the blogspot acquisition makes sense, but the orkut one seems a bit iffy to me. Does anyone remember hi5? I thought it had its advantages, though orkut is more user friendly... and now sudhir tells me about Facebook, which reportedly is even better than orkut.
The point I'm trying to make is, networking websites, chatrooms, and mp3 software like limewire and bitlord - they seem to shift with seasons, like the fashion industry.
What if everyone switches from orkut to facebook, as they did a year ago from hi5 to orkut?
Well, I suppose google will just follow the trend around and buy everything along the way.
With the top brand recall value in the world, along with Apple and some other brand (ironically enough I don't recall it), I guess they can afford to.

awwww..even if you're a frustrating online chatter. :P
i almost clicked on one of those links when wrestling with the mouse point and trying to scroll down. dangerous it is..or is it?
didn't google buy out blogspot ages ago? or, google started blogspot even. if i remember, one of the hooks of early blogspot was to get a free gmail account with every sign (this the time when published authors were offering personalized stories for gmail invites)..
come and show my blog some love. it misses you. :p
welcome back. hmph
your post reminded me of some 50 odd facebook invites that i'm trying to ignore in my mail box.
poor hi5...it's been trying to re-invent itself so earnestly ever since orkut started taking over all our lives. lol and i think i've started to see google in my sleep too.
dont know how i came across this blog. but yeah: om google-aaya namaha.
thank you folks... - esp you, varun, for visiting my blog so promptly after my four-month absence.
and thanks for commenting on this turd of a post... promise, will give u better reading pleasure with the next one, coming up very soon.
cheers!
PS. yes, kyra, you should also try yahoo and hotmail - they are genuinely cool now, by the same principle, post gmail revolution.
Ennadaa.... dei??
Many apologies for not stumbling by sooner. Was busy getting my head pummelled by a 40-foot gorilla. Really.
Blogger was always with Google, as far as I remember. It's just that they've finally gone and linked hands and made an irritating little daisy chain now.
If I may ask, where HAVE you been all this while?
glad your back, sonny boy. f2f's sparkle was beginning to fade.
I meant "you're." Ouch: English teacher chagrin moment.
haha...didnt know, I was mentioned here till just now.
And yes...fyi - Blogspot was started by Google, and Orkut was created in his free time by an employee at Google. Not that it really matters.. :)
Something new, called facebox seems to be propping up suddenly now...
thank you one and all,
such an overwhelming response for a such a shit post quite unmans me.
i shall pay you all back by posting what i think is a good post.
hope u like it!
